Sometimes things reach a point where you know something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to start. MEN'S COUNSELLING

Support Tailored for What Men Are Carrying

I know that when pressure builds, your relationship becomes difficult, or your mind won't switch off, it can start to affect every part of your life. You might be carrying more than you're letting anyone see, trying to keep things going while wondering how much longer you can keep doing it this way.

At Anchoring Your Life Counselling, I offer men a private, confidential space to talk honestly about what's happening, without judgement and without having to have all the answers.  I take the time to understand you - what you've been carrying, what has shaped you, what matters to you, and how your experiences may be influencing the way you think, feel and respond today. From that supportive foundation, we can work out what is getting in the way and develop practical ways to handle pressure, manage difficult emotions, break unhelpful thought patterns, strengthen your relationships, rebuild trust, and communicate more effectively. Whether you're dealing with relationship difficulties, work stress, anxiety, depression, betrayal, or a major change in life, the focus is on helping you gain greater perspective, feel more in control, and work out how you want to move forward.

Whether you're seeking men's counselling in Redlands, Brisbane, or online across Australia, my sessions give you the opportunity to step back from the pressure, talk things through, and work out what matters and where you want to go from here.

"I became a therapist because I believe no one should navigate their hardest moments alone," and that's how I show up, with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), CBT, ACT, CPT, and trauma-informed care, blended with genuine empathy and understanding from my own life experience. My approach is practical, giving you tools to manage what's happening while creating space to understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that may be getting in the way.

The result? Greater perspective, more control over how you respond, and a better sense of where you're heading.

TESTIMONIALS

What My Clients Say

"My husband and I have been attending couples counselling with Debra for over 14 months, and the experience has been transformative for our relationship. Debra’s approach, grounded in the Gottman Theory, has provided us with practical tools to navigate challenges, improve communication, and rebuild trust.

Debra’s professionalism is unparalleled. From the moment we stepped into her office, she created a safe, non-judgmental space where both of us felt heard and respected. Her ability to break down complex concepts, such as the "Communication Skills" and the importance of building a "Love Map," helped us understand not only our conflicts but also how to nurture our connection moving forward.

Over time, we’ve seen incredible growth in our relationship. Debra’s tailored exercises and her emphasis on small, intentional changes have fostered deeper intimacy and understanding. She truly listens and adapts her strategies to suit our unique needs, which has made all the difference.

We can’t thank Debra enough for the positive impact she’s had on our relationship. Her guidance has not only improved our dynamic as a couple but also strengthened us as individuals. If you’re looking for a compassionate and highly skilled counsellor to help transform your relationship, I can’t recommend her enough!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about men’s counselling — so you know what to expect.

What issues can men’s counselling help with?

Men’s counselling can support you with anxiety, stress, self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, and other emotional challenges. It’s a safe space to explore what’s causing distress and begin healing.

How many sessions will I need before I see change?

It depends on your situation, goals, and how often you attend. Some people notice relief after a few sessions; others work over longer periods with regular appointments. Debra helps you set realistic goals and checks in on progress along the way.

What happens during a typical counselling session?

You’ll start by talking about what’s on your mind, what you hope to get from counselling, and your background. Debra uses evidence-based methods (like EFT) to guide discussion — you can expect listening, reflection, and small practical exercises or tools to try between sessions.

Is men’s counselling confidential?

Yes. Your privacy is respected. What you share stays between you and Debra, unless there’s a legal or safety concern (which Debra will explain at the start of your work together).

Still have questions?

If you still have questions, reach out today to book a free 15-minute call with Debra.

Can I have online sessions, or do I need to attend in person?

Yes, online counselling is an option. You can choose sessions via video if that works better for your schedule or location. They offer the same level of support and structure as in-person sessions.

What are the costs, and are there rebates available?

Costs depend on session length and frequency. Session fees can be viewed by clicking the “Book Now” button. You may be eligible for rebates through private health providers. Always check with your health fund and Debra’s office to understand what your policy covers.

What if I feel nervous about something in a counselling session?

That’s totally okay. Feeling safe and heard is key. Debra is very approachable, you can always speak to her about what's on your mind. Sometimes changing the approach, session frequency, or strategies can make a difference. The goal is finding what supports you best.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. You can self-refer to men’s counselling with Debra.  A referral from a GP isn’t required.
